Montreal is well-known for its outstanding public transportation system. With over 150 years of history, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) has become a vibrant canvas for both local and international artists. The Montréal métro itself serves as an expansive art gallery.

As the public steward of this space, STM is responsible for curating and showcasing this impressive collection, one that is admired by metro systems worldwide. This artistic legacy is a source of pride for STM and a point of enjoyment for many of its passengers

The inspiration for this catalogue was drawn from the concrete used in the construction of the metro. Its rough, coarse texture, with visible aggregates like sand, gravel, and stones, creates an industrial and rugged feel. Reflecting this, the images in the publication adhere to a carefully chosen color palette that echoes the essence of concrete.
